Otzi Flintknapping Kit - flint knapping tools

Along with four obsidian spalls, this kit has all the basic tools you need for successful knapping. The lead filled bopper has a short rubber coated handle preferred by knappers world wide and the kit includes a grooved rubber hand pad for easy flake removal. The copper bopper head is 1-1/8" diameter. The Kit also includes a traditional pressure flaker for shaping and finish work. The 20" Ishi Stick has a 3/4" diameter which gives it enough flexibility to aid flake removal. The rough abrader will help you set those platforms for successful flake removal.

• Kit includes 4 obsidian spalls: It can be pricy purchasing separate flint or obsidian for practice. This kit comes with two mahogany spalls and two black spalls. The spalls vary in size. Start knapping as soon as the kit arrives.
• Adjustable copper tips: The tips on all of our pressure flakers are adjustable. This allows flintknappers to remove the tip for sharpening. It also allows the flintknapper to replace worn out tips or even experiment with a variety of nail styles.
• Short handled bopper preferred by knappers worldwide: Most knappers prefer the short handles for the way they lend themselves to easier wrist action. This enables better accuracy and improved flake detachment.
• Grooved rubber hand pad for easy flake removal: The groove in the rubber hand pad allows knappers to drive longer flakes from the flint, chert, or obsidian. Longer flakes lead to improved thinning and more beautiful artistry and craftmanship.
• 80 grit abrader for excellent platform setting: Large enough for good grip this abrader rakes platforms quickly.
