MCX456A-ECAT is a dual-port QSFP28 VPI adapter based on the NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-4 controller, delivering up to 100 Gb/s per port for either Ethernet or EDR InfiniBand. With PCIe 3.0 x16 bandwidth, the card accelerates RDMA/RoCEv2, SR-IOV, and overlay networks (NVGRE/VXLAN), reducing CPU load and latency in HPC, storage, and cloud environments. Typical deployments include NVMe-oF, AI training clusters, and 100G leaf-spine fabrics. The QSFP28 interfaces accept DAC/AOC cables and SR4/LR4 optics (not RJ45). Works in systems with a full-height bracket (low-profile optional). Also referred to as a PCI network adapter by users (PCIe interface). Standards alignment includes IEEE 802.3ba/802.3bm for 100GbE and IBTA 1.3 for EDR InfiniBand.
